Dear press representatives,

The GALERIE JEANNE from Munich will exhibit works of classical modern and contemporary art at the “Modern Art Fair Paris” 2024.

The works offered by Galerie Jeanne at the art fair in Paris include the following works of art

Pablo Picasso, Quatre femmes Nue, Galerie Jeanne, Muenchen

PABLO PICASSO, ‘Quatre femmes nues et tete sculptée’ – La Suite Vollard (page 219), 1933, signed – Copyright: Artists/Estates – Courtesy: Galerie Jeanne, Munich

PABLO PICASSO (1881-1973)

The Spanish painter, sculptor and graphic artist PABLO PICASSO (1881-1973) left behind a comprehensive oeuvre of drawings, graphics, collages, paintings, ceramics and sculptures. The “Suite Vollard” was created between 1930 and 1937 – a series of 100 graphics… including the artist and model theme. Since 2001, a complete series has been in the “Pablo Picasso Graphics Museum” in Münster.

Andy Warhol, New Spirit, Galerie Jeanne, Muenchen

ANDY WARHOL, ‘The New Spirit’, 1985 – Copyright: Artists/Estates – Courtesy: Galerie Jeanne, Munich

Andy Warhol (1928-1987)

is the most important representative and co-founder of the international Pop Art movement and one of the most important artists of the 20th century. His New York studio and the legendary Factory have cult status. Andy Warhol declared screen printing to be an art medium and reproduction received a new technique in art history. His art can be assigned to different artistic phases – his work includes the styles of Pop Art, Abstract Expressionism and so-called Naive Art.

Jean-Michel Basquiat, Wolf-sausage, Galerie Jeanne - München

JEAN MICHEL BASQUIAT, ‘Wolf Sausage’, series print on Somerset Satin, 1982/83-2019, Copyright: Artists/Estates – Courtesy: Galerie Jeanne, Munich

Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988)

The African-American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat was one of the first artists whose paintings and drawings were accepted early on in the “white art world”. Jean-Michel Basquiat’s works, which take place directly on the image medium due to his artistic immediacy, are classified as Neo-Expressionism through this working method. They contain everything that Basquiat found in everyday life and that he was able to quote in his works. We find signs, words, numbers, symbols, sketches, logos, map fragments and pictograms or – as the artist Basquiat himself always emphasized: “facts”!

The works of art by  Damien Hirst  in the Jeanne Gallery in Munich

Damien Hirst’s  original prints and multiples are limited and signed!

THE YOUNG BRITISH ARTISTS

The artist Damien Hirst belongs to the group of artists known as the “Young British Artists” (YBAs) who rose to prominence in the late 1980s.

From the early 1990s, Hirst himself became the most prominent representative of this group of artists. His work quickly became known for his eye-catching and provocative sculptures, such as the famous diamond-studded platinum cast of a human skull (2007) entitled “For the Love of God” or the giant formaldehyde shark in the glass aquarium.

Damien Hirst’s work has been shown in many exhibitions worldwide:

among others in 2008 in the Amsterdam Rijksmuseum or in 2012 in the Tate Modern in London, which dedicated a “retrospective” to him.

Press release from Galerie Jeanne

The GALERIE JEANNE was founded 40 years ago in the center of Munich’s old town at the passage to the “Komödie im Bayerischen Hof” by the Frenchwoman Jeanne Neumann. From that time until 1996 over 100 contemporary young to established artists were shown in numerous exhibitions. Art historian Jacqueline T. Hoffman is the second generation to run the gallery. Over the past 40 years, Galerie Jeanne in Munich has established itself as one of the most important addresses for international, high-quality graphics, works on paper from the 20th century and contemporary art.

The “GALLERY JEANNE. Graphics & Designs” presented 2023

…including artworks by Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988), by Julian Opie (b. 1958), by the artist and photo-realist draftsman Robert Longo (b. 1953 in Brooklyn), by the co-founder and most important representative of the American Pop Art Andy Warhol (1928-1987), by the American painter, object artist and graphic artist Tom Wesselmann (1931-2004) and by the British-American artist Russell Young, born in 1959.

Robert Longo, Tiger, Galerie Jeanne, Munich

Robert Longo ‘Tiger’ (2012)

Robert Longo confronts the viewer with this haunting, oversized predatory face.

Robert Longo is one of the most important graphic artists of our time. He first photographs his motif and then makes detailed hand drawings; these in turn become graphics. Longo’s hyper-realistic technical charcoal drawing “Tiger” was published as a limited edition of 25 Archival Pigment Print on Vellum paper. This intense pigment print can hardly be surpassed in terms of richness of detail and photorealism. After studying art in New York and Florence, Longo exhibited at the Documenta in Kassel in 1982 and 1987, at the Venice Biennale in 1997 and was honored with the Kaiserring of the city of Goslar in 2005. Works by the artist Robert Longo can be found in museums (Vienna Albertina, New York Museum of Modern Art, London Tate Gallery, Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam) and collections worldwide (e.g. Wuerth Collection).

At the exhibition stand of Galerie Jeanne you will find, among others,

A 1982/83-2019 serigraph on Somerset Satin, numbered and signed on the reverse by Lisane Basquiat and Jeanine Herivaux. Jean-Michel Basquiat’s works, which, due to their artistic immediacy, take place directly on the picture carrier, are assigned to neo-expressionism through this working method. They contain everything that Basquiat found in everyday life and that he was able to quote in his works. Roy Lichtenstein, Shipboard girl, Galerie Jeanne, Muenchen Roy Lichtenstein, Shipboard girl, Galerie Jeanne from Munich

With ‘ShipboardGirl’ the Galerie Jeanne in Karlsruhe is presenting a colorful work by Roy Lichtenstein (1923-1997)

It is a “colour-fresh print in perfect condition!” The color lithograph on paper dates from 1965. The sheet was signed by Roy Lichtenstein on the lower right. Roy Lichtenstein (1923 – 1997) is one of the most important representatives of Pop Art worldwide. The American painter and graphic artist based his works on the visual language of his time, which became more symbolic and colorful due to advertising that was becoming more conspicuous in everyday life and a comic culture that was enjoying increasing popularity.

We are looking forward to seeing you!

Ausgewählte Arbeiten von Russell Young – in der Galerie Jeanne, München

Russell Young (geb.
