Richard Estes was born in Kewanee, Illinois, in 1932 and is regarded as one of the leading figures of American Photorealism. He is internationally renowned for his highly detailed paintings of urban environments, capturing the atmosphere of modern cities with extraordinary precision.
After studying at the Art Institute of Chicago, Estes moved to New York in 1958, where he initially worked as an illustrator and graphic artist.
